Carl Tatz Design Receives 3rd Consecutive TEC Award Nomination

Nashville, TN: For the third year in a row, Carl Tatz Design (CTD™) has been nominated out of hundreds of entries by the TEC Awards Nominating Panel for pro audio's highest honor for Outstanding Creative Achievement in studio design for Fly By West studio. Final voting for the winner will take place in December. "We're humble and greatful to receive this wonderful recognition from the TEC Awards panel," stated Carl Tatz.

Having moved his family into a more spacious home in a bucolic country setting outside of metro Nashville, engineer/producer Derek West once again chose Carl Tatz Design LLC, the TEC Award-winning studio designer, to create this new ambitious personal studio, known as "Fly By West." This very unique facility was retrofitted into a large unused boat garage with unusually high ceilings.

Where West's former studio consisted of a compact control room and booth, the new studio features a full-sized custom application of the CTD MixRoom™ concept, which pairs the Carl Tatz Signature Series™ acoustic modules by Auralex® with the unrivaled accuracy and performance of the PhantomFocus™ System (PFS™) monitor tuning protocol.

The Fly By West tracking room's multi-angled twenty-foot high knotty pine, tongue-in-groove ceilings are shared with a multi-purpose loft that is reached via a wrought iron spiral staircase. The loft area can be used by out-of-town clients for stay-over projects and offers great acoustic variety when tracking. The uniquely positioned over-dub booths at the control room's rear attest to West's preferred M.O.
